Top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka Secures Consecutive WTA Top Player Awards.
World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second successive year.
The twenty-seven-year-old won four titles – the highest tally on the circuit – including retaining the US Open this past September against Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth Grand Slam singles title.
A Year of Dominance
Across the season, Sabalenka played in a circuit-leading nine championship matches, with defeats coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.
The star player also claimed victory at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the entire year as the top-ranked player, finishing 2025 on top of the rankings for a second straight year.
This past summer, she became the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams in 2015.
Record-Breaking Statistics
Sabalenka finished the season with a sixty-three to twelve win-loss record, and collected a record eleven million pounds in tournament winnings.
She garnered nearly eighty percent of the votes cast by international tennis media.
On 28 December, she is scheduled to face 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match in a bid to "raise women's tennis to a new level".
Other WTA Award Winners
- Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, received the award after taking 13-month break after the arrival of her daughter and returning to the sport at the start of this year.
- Rookie of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko received the award after starting the season ranked outside the world's top 300 and rising to the eighteenth spot.
- Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were voted after securing their second Grand Slam title together.
- Most Improved Player of the Year: Amanda Anisimova was named after reaching five finals.
Recently, Carlos Alcaraz took home three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as fans' favourite for a third time.
