Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in contact with the NFL.

The organization did not mention the player specifically in their statement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete directly, shared a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the second round.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the first six games of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals injured. Rice was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

On the field, Rice finished the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
