Comedian and author David Walliams lost his contract with longtime publisher.

David Walliams

Best-selling writer for children and entertainer David Walliams is no longer with his UK book publisher, the company has said.

An official for the company stated: "Upon deliberation, and with the guidance of its new CEO, HarperCollins UK will not be releasing future works by David Walliams."

Media sources suggest that the conclusion was made after an inquiry regarding reports of conduct deemed unsuitable involving young women.

The company did not confirm the motivations for this action, adding: "We do not comment on internal matters."

A Prolific Writing Journey

Walliams is one of the UK's most successful children's authors, having sold more than 60 million copies internationally in five dozen languages.

His first children's book, *The Boy in the Dress*, was published by HarperCollins in 2008.

Some of his books, for example *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have subsequently been turned into small-screen adaptations.

He has published more than 40 books altogether, encompassing a festive story called *Santa & Son*, which was published by HarperCollins last autumn.

Television and Literature

He first rose to fame on the broadcast sketch program *Little Britain* and has been honored with National Television Awards for his work as a judge on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He received an OBE several years ago for his services to the charitable sector and arts community.

This move occurs subsequent to the naming of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's recent CEO this past October.
